Purpose of Role
The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will lead the church’s ministry to primary aged children and their families at Trinity Church, and lead our families outreach work in the local community. They are responsible for embodying and encouraging among families and children our core church vision to be ‘one church family rooted in Jesus and fruitful for him’. The interim nature of this role will enable a series of other staffing changes at church to bed in and enable us to discern God’s will for a longer term children’s ministry role.
There is an Occupational Requirement for this post to be filled by a committed evangelical Christian under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. The Interim Children’s Minister is required to demonstrate a clear, personal commitment to the Christian faith and be able to sign the church’s Statement of Faith. Regular attendance at a Trinity Church Henley Sunday service and belonging to a Trinity Church Life Group is required.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Sunday Children’s ministry
– Be the point person for the children’s ministry at our Sunday services.
– Build and support a team of volunteers to lead Sunday groups.
– Provide resources for the weekly Sunday groups, ensuring Bible and prayer are at the heart of our Sunday children’s ministry.
– Work alongside the wider ministry team in training and resourcing leaders, and offering pastoral and discipleship support to parents.
– Organise the volunteer leaders by putting together termly rotas for Sundays.
2. Family outreach events
– Plan and develop outreach initiatives to primary aged children and families in the local community. This currently includes Jivers / Thursday club / Holiday Craft and coffee mornings / Follow the Star / Easter Trail.
– Build and support a team of volunteers to help lead these outreach initiatives.
3. Other responsibilities
– Ensure the church vision, services and other programs include children as equal and important members of the church family.
– Ensure healthy and safe relationships by working with the Parish Safeguarding Officer in enacting our safeguarding and recruitment policies.
Personal Growth
– To proactively find ways to grow and develop the gifts the Lord has given you to help you further flourish in your role. There is £500 a year to use towards any necessary training, development or support.
– Participation in an annual appraisal and annual interim review with your line manager. – Attendance at a weekly staff meeting and 121 with your line manager.
– Take time regularly to reflect on the ‘What we’re all about’ booklet (Remaining in Jesus, Confident in the Word, Dependent in Prayer, labouring in Love) and how this shapes your role day to day.
Person specification
Qualifications and Experience
● Clear grasp of Biblical truth and mature Christian faith, with evidence of this bearing fruit in every area of life.
● Experience of church based children’s ministry including teaching experience (for example as a kids’ group leader).
● Experience working together with and leading teams of volunteers
● Experience of planning and delivering new initiatives.
● We would expect the successful applicant to pursue appropriate avenues for
continued theological training and ministerial development.
Character and Skills

● A prayerful disciple, who is committed to and models dependence on God in
everything.
● A relationally gifted disciple, who is able to connect intuitively and winsomely
with a wide variety of people and ages within the church and the wider community, especially with children, volunteers and parents. Effective communication skills are essential.

● A passionate advocate for evangelism and discipleship among children and young people, who will encourage parents, and the church family as a whole, to partner together in this vital work.

● A leader who is able to articulate and embody our church vision.
● A role model for children and volunteers who is approachable and relatable.
● A clear and convinced evangelical, who is in agreement with the theological
foundations of Trinity at Four, as expressed in the Church of England Evangelical Council Basis of Faith.
